Standard Process Feline Immune System Support: A Holistic Veterinarian’s Therapeutic Review

The following information is a summary and review based on Dr. Candy’s professional experience and recommendations. Any summary or statement has not been provided nor influenced by the manufacturer.

Feline Immune System Support is one of the most common supplements I use. Your cat’s immune system is constantly fighting the battle to keep your fur-kid healthy. The immune system has to surveil every cell in your cat’s body. It continuously looks for foreign invaders to keep away sickness.

The immune system has a lot of responsibilities. Another responsibility is to check all of the cells and make sure that they were constructed appropriately and that there are no errors. These errors can turn into cancer and it is your cat’s immune system’s job to destroy these possible pre-cancer cells.

In addition to searching for bacteria, viruses, fungi, and pre-cancers, the immune system plays a large role in the detoxification process. This “detox program” is constantly rolling. The immune system looks for toxic chemicals and other dangerous substances before they damage your cat’s body. In our modern world, our detoxification pathways are working harder than ever.

Your cat’s body is under constant attack from toxic chemicals in our water like chlorine and fluoride. It also battles all of the toxins present in the food supply chain. These food-borne substances could be threats like bacteria, foreign proteins, heavy metals (i.e.: lead, mercury, aluminum), and a wide variety of chemicals and processing byproducts. On top of that, we add the extra burden of pesticides, artificial fertilizers, and herbicides like glyphosates (i.e.: Round Up).

If that wasn’t enough, conventional medical “health” programs dump a slew of vaccines, parasitical drugs, anti-inflammatories, immunosuppressants, antibiotics, blood transfusions, and synthetic “vitamins” into our cats.

I can’t blame the immune system for getting depleted, bogged down, and beat up. All of this work can push the whole body out of balance. When the immune system is out of balance it can lead to allergies, side effects, cancer, and autoimmune disease. When we think about the big picture and how our world is changing, it’s no wonder that our cats’ immune systems need support.

standard process immune support for cats

Standard Process Feline Immune System Support works with your cat’s current immune system. The support supplement contains important nutrients from animal tissues, organ meats, glandular products, superfoods, amino acids, plant materials, and proven herbs. Standard Process Feline Immune System Support neither stimulates nor suppresses your cat’s current immune system. Rather, it modulates the complex system, keeping it balanced. This supplement uses whole-food-based nutrition to optimize and heal the various components.

I have been using Standard Process Feline Immune Support for many years and the results have been amazing! I see positive results in cases that range from sick rescue kittens all the way to old cats with cancer. I can’t think of any case that did not see positive results. In the right situation, you may see results within a few days! You will see a healthier pet. They will be brighter, more active, more comfortable, stronger, and HAPPIER.

Within my own home, I have used Standard Process Feline Immune System Support in the following ways:

Sick KittenSignalment: A 5-week-old kitten that was dumped at a shelter, weaned early, fed poorly, housed densely, with a raging upper respiratory infection that displayed as congestion, poor appetite, and eye discharge that caused swelling to the eyelids and face, and seals both eyes shut. Multiple intestinal parasites are present, and the kitten had a topical ringworm infection.
Response: Reduced swelling, improved breathing, and more energy within 36 hours.
Young cat with stomatitisSignalment: Extremely red and puffy gingival tissue, thickened gums that bleed easily, inflamed around entire 360 degrees of all teeth, thick saliva, “rotten” bad breath, smell carried on breath and transferred to coat (due to grooming).
Response: Improvement of gingivitis over the next 2 weeks and disappearance of foul odor.

*It is important to note that in each of these examples, Standard Process Canine Immune Support was not the only treatment performed. It was just an integral part of Dr. Candy’s treatment plan.

41-60 lbs½ teaspoon twice per day
61-80 lbs¾ teaspoon twice per day
> 80 lbs1 teaspoon twice per day

Important Supplement Information:

  • These supplements should all be given twice a day.
  • Most clients sprinkle it on their pet’s food.
  • Because these supplements are made from whole foods, and not chemicals, doses are highly palatable.  In fact, it often seems like animals instinctively know what their body needs and gobble it up quickly.

When beginning supplementation, I recommend the following taper-up process. This is only because these ingredients are so nutrient-dense. We can decrease your pet’s adjustment period, which may result in a soft stool. This adjustment phase is generally 1-2 days long and normal consistency of stool will return to normal without treatment.

  • WEEK 1                1/8 teaspoon
  • WEEK 2                ¼ teaspoon
  • WEEK 3                ½ teaspoon
  • WEEK 4                1 teaspoon

Once you get to your pet’s maintenance dose, based on the dosage chart, continue at this dose.

For example: If your pet weighs 35 lbs –

  • WEEK 1                1/8 teaspoon
  • WEEK 2                ¼ teaspoon
  • WEEK 3                Stay at ¼ teaspoon as a maintenance therapeutic dose

A Note From the Manufacturer:

“The immune system is a complex array of cells that are found throughout the body. Collectively, immune cells are designed to function in conjunction with other immune cells to provide a defense against invasion of microorganisms. However, it should also be recognized that the defensive role of the skin and mucous membrane is to provide the first layer of protection. Adequate function of the membrane barrier can prevent invasion of microorganisms. Immune support is designed to utilize the immune cell and membrane barrier supportive effects of a variety of whole food nutrients, tissue factors, and botanical ingredients. Patients who have acute immune demands or immune systems that are under chronic stress will benefit from this product.

The immune system is one of the most important systems in your pet’s body. When working normally, it helps them live a happy and healthy life. They can hunt, play, or run laps throughout the house. But what if their immune system is compromised? Immune Support provides vitamins, minerals, organ and tissue extracts, and botanicals not normally found in your pet’s diet. These nutrients in Immune Support, known as functional foods, have been shown to contain a wide range of trace nutrients that benefit specific organs and tissues.”
